Time compression of frequency-modulated pulses in fibres with in-fibre refractive index gratings

Abstract:
The dynamics of frequency-modulated pulses in fibres with sequentially inscribed refractive-index gratings having a different period is considered. It is shown that the proposed structure of the fibre can be used to generate picosecond and subpicosecond pulses with peak powers on the order of 1 MW.
