Output power saturation effect in Yb – Er fibre lasers

Abstract: The output power saturation effect in Yb – Er fibre lasers is experimentally observed. A formula for estimating the saturation power is derived. A method is proposed for measuring the 4I11/2 level lifetime or the concentration of Er ions based on the measurements of the saturation power.
