Abstract:
A general kinetic model is proposed for the development of concentration–deformation–thermal instabilities in a system of point defects (vacancies, interstitials, impurities) in crystals subjected to concentrated energy fluxes. This model was used in an analysis of the formation of periodic ring vacancy structures and the appearance of flexural deformation in a film on a substrate. The period of the resultant structure, as well as the dependences of this period on the conditions during irradiation and on the film parameters, are found. The theoretical results are shown to agree satisfactorily with experiments on laser deposition of molybdenum films on an insulator substrate.
