Abstract:
An analysis is reported of the effectiveness of the method of expanding the range of frequencies generated in a laser system by stimulated Raman scattering and subsequent frequency summation. It is shown that the most promising are noncentrosymmetric crystals with a strong electronic nonlinearity. Experimental results are reported on stimulated Raman scattering and nonlinear summation in LiIO3, LiNbO3, KDP (potassium dihydrogen phosphate), and KTP (potassium titanyl phosphate) crystals.
