Abstract:
We have produced planar optical waveguides having a crystalline CaF2–YF3–NdF3 mixed yttrofluorite core and two reflective claddings in order to improve waveguide excitation efficiency. Under diode pumping, lasing has been achieved at a wavelength of 1064 nm with a slope efficiency near 15%.
Keywords:
mixed fluoride crystals, double-clad planar optical waveguides, lasing.
