Focusing action of lenses induced by laser radiation

Abstract: The results are given of an experimental study of changes in the shape of the surface and value of the refractive index of glass as a result of action of continuous СО2 laser radiation. The nature of these changes is such that a plane-parallel plate acquires the properties of a lens. The optical characteristics of lenses induced in this way are considered.
