Gasdynamic water-vapor-condensation laser

V. K. Konyukhov, A. M. Prokhorov, V. I. Tikhonov, V. N. Faizulaev
Abstract: A theoretical description is given of the principle of operation of a new laser which transforms the energy of the vapor-liquid phase transition into the energy of coherent electromagnetic radiation. The active medium represents unstable strongly excited condensation products formed during the flow of a vapor through a supersonic nozzle. It is shown that a population inversion of intermolecular vibrational levels is possible in water dimer molecules.
