Abstract: A description is given of a new type of the Raman scattering of light by thermal oscillations of the shape of a spherical liquid particle. This type of scattering results in a frequency shift of the scattered radiation. The single-valued relationship between this shift and the size of an aerosol particle should make it possible to use the scattering effect in the determination of the size distribution of aerosol particles.
