Abstract: A cladding-pumped ytterbium-doped fibre laser has been tuned to shorter emission wavelengths (from 1040 to 1017 nm). The laser output power obtained has been compared to calculation results. We have studied frequency doubling of the laser in a KTiOPO4 (KTP) crystal with type II phase matching in the XY plane and demonstrated wavelength tuning in the range 510 — 520 nm.
