Abstract: The basic physical mechanisms of amplitude, frequency (phase) and polarisation nonreciprocities in ring lasers are considered. These effects have to be taken into account both in studies of nonlinear dynamics of ring lasers and in their practical usage in laser gyroscopy, as well as in high-precision fundamental research.
