Abstract:
We have studied the effect of fibre length on the parameters of pulses generated by heavily holmium-doped fibre lasers. The results demonstrate that, at an optimal active fibre length, the laser generates pulses with a peak power of 38 W, energy of 6.7 μJ, repetition rate of 410 kHz and duration of 160 ns. These parameters are comparable to those of lasers Q-switched by other, more complex techniques.
Keywords:
holmium fibre laser, Q-switching, laser efficiency.
