Abstract: A semiclassical vector model is used to analyse a self-modulation regime of a solid-state ring laser. Expressions are obtained for the amplitude of the spectral components of counterpropagating waves, for the average intensities, and for the depth of modulation in the case of arbitrary polarisations and coupling coefficients. The amplitude and frequency nonreciprocities of the laser cavity are taken into account.
