Identification of the exchange and multipole mechanisms of nonradiative energy transfer in crystals

Yu. S. Privis

Laser Materials and Technology Research Center, Prokhorov General Physics Institute, RAS, Moscow
Abstract: A method is proposed for determining whether the static nonradiative energy transfer in a donor — acceptor system in a crystal is of multipole or exchange nature. The method is based on the use of the donor — acceptor transfer rates wi in the ith coordination sphere, which can be found from experimental donor kinetics. Formulas are given for determination of the relevant transfer microparameters.
