Abstract:
The gain ~3.5×10-3 cm-1 is obtained in the repetitively pulsed regime upon pumping a Nd-doped phosphate glass into the 4I9/2–4F3/2 absorption band by diode arrays at 874 nm. The pump efficiency for a sample of volume 6.7 cm3 exceeded 0.5 and was limited only by the geometrical factor and the excited-state lifetime of the Nd3+ ion.
