Abstract:
An investigation was made of a waveguide in the form of a thin As&ndah;Se chalcogenide glass film on a barium fluoride single-crystal substrate. The waveguide was designed for operation at λ = 10.6 μ. The refractive index of the glass film was determined. A method was developed for measuring the attenuation coefficient, which was 3 dB/cm for the dominant TE0 mode.
