Large-screen visualizer

Abstract: A description is given of a large-screen (100×100 cm) visualizer of infrared radiation operating on the basis of thermal quenching of the luminescence of a ZnS–CdS phosphor. This phosphor was excited by four fluorescent tubes (containing the L-33 phosphor) placed on the four sides of a square surrounding the screen. Special technology was used to ensure a uniform ZnS-CdS coating of the large screen. The visualizer made it possible to measure radiation power densities of 50–500 mW/cm2 with a spatial resolution of 1–2 lines/mm.
