Frequency-shift device for the optical range

Abstract:
A device is proposed for shifting the frequency in the optical range by electrooptic modulation of the phase of the radiation in accordance with a periodic sawtooth law in a lithium metaniobate crystal. The dependence of the spectral composition of the output radiation on the parameters of the modulating signal is determined. The results are given of an experimental check of the proposed frequency-shift method.
