Competing relaxation fluctuations of the intensity of emission from lasers with a mixed lumped–distributed feedback

Abstract:
Relaxation fluctuations of the intensity of the emitted radiation were observed in the case of lasers with a mixed lumped–distributed feedback representing competition between a distributed feedback and one due to reflection from external mirrors. This effect was interpreted on the basis of a solution of lasing rate equations allowing for the delay in radiation reflected by external mirrors relative to the radiation generated in a periodic structure.
