Quantum-electronic devices in prototype fiber-optical communication lines

Yu. S. Vorob'ev, O. I. Gorbunov, Yu. K. Rudov, V. T. Khrykin
Abstract: A report is given of the use of quantum-electronic devices (semiconductor lasers and photodiodes) in prototype fiber-optical communication lines for transmission of data by pulse methods at rates of 8.5 and 114 Mbit/sec. The selection of semiconductor lasers and photodiodes is considered and functional prototype systems are discussed.
