Dynamics of plasma mirror formation in a neodymium laser due to secondary optical breakdown in air

A. M. Prokhorov, V. B. Fedorov, I. V. Fomenkov
Abstract: It was established that the formation of a plasma mirror, accompanying the interaction of radiation from a free-running neodymium laser with a gas target, occurs after the primary microsecond breakdown at the rear boundary of a relaxing plasma at the moment when the gas suffers a secondary breakdown due to one of the succeeding microsecond spikes.
