Abstract: A theoretical analysis is made of the possibility of the generation of short high-power pulses in an electron-beam-controlled CO laser both under Q-switching and free-oscillation conditions. Calculations indicate that, in principle, ~20 nsec pulses can be generated with an efficiency of ~ 10 %.
