Stray transverse stimulated emission from Raman lasers with cryogenic active media

S. B. Kormer, G. G. Kochemasov, V. D. Nikolaev, V. D. Urlin
Abstract: A theoretical analysis is made of the influence of stray transverse stimulated emission of the Stokes components on the energy characteristics of a Raman laser. It is shown that several scattering regimes may occur and their realization depends on the parameters of resonators and pump beam. The values of the effective transparency of the active medium and the output intensity of the axial Stokes wave are determined for each regime. The results of calculations are in agreement with the available experimental data.
