Abstract:
A theoretical analysis is made of steady-state stimulated Raman emission involving polariton excitation in a nonlinear crystal placed inside a laser resonator when feedback may be provided by the Stokes radiation and the polariton wave is strongly absorbed. Formulas are obtained for the intensities of the Stokes and polariton radiation. In particular, it is shown that the dependence of the stimulated radiation intensity on the thickness of a nonlinear crystal x is nonmonotonic. There is an optimal value of x, which is different for the Stokes and polariton radiation and depends on the strength of the Stokes radiation feedback. It is shown that the use of intracavity stimulated Raman scattering enhances considerably the intensity of stimulated radiation and a quantitative measure of this enhancement is obtained by postulating the highest intensity of the polariton radiation.
