Abstract: A lasing efficiency of 4% was achieved when an excimer laser utilizing an Ne–Kr–F2 mixture was pumped by a 200-MW nanosecond microwave pulse, the specific pump power being 1.4 MW/cm3. The absorption of the microwave energy in the active medium passed through a maximum at which the energy coupling efficiency approached 100%.
