Phase-interferometer control of mode locking in a gas laser

Abstract:
An experimental investigation was made of an He–Ne laser with a phase interferometer for compensation of the frequency pulling. This made it possible to lock longitudinal modes of higher powers and in a wider range of oscillation parameters than in a laser with a conventional two-mirror resonator. A calculation method, based on a comparison of the phase characteristics of the interferometer and active medium, was developed.
