Full-text PDF (607 kB) Citations (2)
Abstract: Analytic and numerical investigations are reported of the influence of dispersion and relaxation of the nonlinearity of a medium on the propagation of short axially symmetric pulses. It is shown that the inertia of the medium results in an infinitely long formation time of a singularity (focus). An estimate is obtained of the maximum field which may be formed at a focus.
