Nonlinear absorption and local coordination of atoms in Asx(GeS2)1 – x glasses

Abstract:
An investigation was made of the dependences of the parameters of linear and two-photon absorption, and also of the optical damage threshold on the concentration of arsenic in Asx(GeS2)1 – x. The lowest linear and nonlinear losses and the highest damage threshold were observed when the atomic concentration of arsenic was of the order of 7%. A model was used to attribute this behavior to changes in the local coordination of the atoms.
