Gas and vapor lasers

Calculation of the parameters of cw lasing due to 2p–1s atomic transitions excited by discharges in pure rare gases

V. M. Batenin, S. V. Kalinin, I. I. Klimovskii, K. M. Ospanov
Abstract: The parameters of cw lasing due to 2p1–1s4 transitions in Ne I and 3d2–2p2 transitions in Ar I are calculated for a positive low-pressure column as a function of the densities of electrons ne and atoms na. Moreover, the parameters of an unrestricted nonequilibrium plasma—the electron temperature Te and the densities ne and na—ensuring cw lasing are calculated for these transitions and also for the 2p8–1s5 transition in the Kr atom.
