SCATTERING AND REFLECTION OF LASER RADIATION

Laser location of glitter points on a moving random surface

Abstract: Coherent scattering of laser radiation by a moving random surface was investigated. Fluctuations of the scattered-radiation power were recorded in field experiments and were used to calculate the velocity of extremal points of the random surface. It was found that the distribution of velocities of these extremal points was close to a direction isotropic relative to the average velocity vector. The results obtained were compared with theoretical estimates for a Gaussian model of the surface.
