Components of laser systems and stability problems

Integrated optical analogs of classical interferometers

A. A. Malyutin
Abstract: An analysis is made of the modulation and filtering properties of planar analogs of multistage Mach–Zehnder and Fabry–Perot interferometers. It is shown that the best parameters are exhibited by a modulator or a filter in the form of a series of planar Mach–Zehner interferometers with a nonlinear dependence of the phase of the control signal on the stage number. A planar Fabry–Perot interferometer is characterized by the smallest capacitance of the control plates.
