Motion of a self-induced waveguide channel in the case of strong vibrational excitation of a polyatomic molecular gas by a laser radiation

V. M. Akulin, N. V. Karlov
Abstract: An investigation is made of the possibility of appearance of a self-induced waveguide channel, moving at right-angles to the direction of propagation of high-power laser radiation which interacts resonantly with a gas of polyatomic molecules. This channel appears because of a change in the polarizability of the molecules on increase in the vibrational energy stored by them which may cause dissociation.
