Abstract: An argon ion laser is described, based on the commercial model LG-106M, having an emission line width of ~3 kHz and an output power of ~150 mW. In order to reduce the line width, which was governed by engineering-related fluctuations in the laser emission frequency, the laser was actively stabilized using an external highly stable Fabry-Perot interferometer.
