Abstract:
Theoretical and experimental investigations were made of the various methods for quasisingle-mode excitation of surface light waves in multimode fiber waveguides. A determination was carried out of the conditions for the excitation of the dominant mode in a multimode fiber and of the length of this fiber in which single-mode propagation was possible.
