Numerical analysis of the influence of initial phase modulation on soliton formation

Abstract:
The results of a computer simulation of the dynamics of optical sine-Gordon solitons with various types of the initial phase modulation are discussed in terms of the inverse problem of scattering theory. A phenomenon involving nonlinear filtering of the stochastic component of the soliton signals is predicted.
