Abstract: An analysis is made of the dispersion characteristics of fused single-mode couplers. Couplers with a 200-mm-long fused section fabricated for the first time made it possible to separate optical signals having a spectral spacing of 0.07 nm with a decoupling of better than 20 dB and excess losses of less than 1 dB.
