Determination of nuclear shapes and moments by laser spectroscopy

G. Huber
Abstract: The use of laser spectroscopy in determination of static characteristics of stable and long-lived isotopes of several elements from the middle of the periodic table (Z = 47–82) was investigated. These characteristics included spin, magnetic moment, electric quadrupole moment, and mean-square radius of the nuclear charge. Studies were made of tin, indium, and silver. Special methods were developed for the investigation of gold and lithium isotopes. The results obtained for nuclei with a proton number of about 50 were analyzed.
