Current status of experiments on parity violation in cesium and of a new project involving nonlinear optics

J. Guéna, Ph. Jacquier, M. Lintz, L. Pottier, M.-A. Bouchiat
Abstract: A new method was developed and used to implement and record the alignment of Cs atoms in the 7S state in an electric field using a laser to pump the population of the state and to stimulate transitions from it. This method made it possible to observe directly parity violation in the case of weak interactions.
