Experiments on P and T violation in atoms at Berkeley

A description is given of experiments conducted at the University of California using thallium atoms to search for the electric dipole moment of the electron. Measurements were also made of radiation asymmetry under spatial parity nonconservation in the 6²P_1/2→7²P_1/2 transition (λ = 293 nm) in thallium atoms.
