Interaction of two plane waves traveling in a nonlinear amplifying medium

Abstract:
A theoretical study is made of the resonant amplification of two plane waves propagating at a small angle relative to one another. A system of equations describing the interaction between the waves in the case of saturation of the resonant transition is derived and solved analytically. The difference between the ratios of the wave intensities at the input and ouput of such an amplifier is discussed.
