Diffraction of waves at a contact between dielectric waveguides

A theoretical study is made of the diffraction of a guided mode at a contact between two electric waveguides. A closed system of equations is obtained for the scattering coefficients and this system is solved by the method of successive approximations. A rapid convergence of the method makes it possible to use just the first two approximations in the interpretation of the experimental data.
