Laser utilizing transitions between levels of paired CO2 modes

Abstract:
The possibility of achieving stimulated emission due to transitions between levels of paired CO2 modes is considered theoretically. It is shown that the gain for the 0310–1000 transition may reach 0.006 cm–1 at T = 150°K if the CO2:Ar composition is optimal (1:30) and the degree of ionization is ne/nCO2 = 3×10–7.
