Methods for determination of deuterium plasma parameters in laser experiments on shell targets
V. B. Kryuchenkov, V. A. Lykov
Abstract:
A theoretical analysis is made of two methods for determining the density and temperature of electrons in deuterium compressed in laser experiments on shell targets. The first method is based on measurements of the DD and DT neutron yields and energy dispersion of nonfusion DT neutrons. The second involves simultaneous measurement of the DD and DT neutron yields and also of the proton yield of the He3 (d,p)He4 reaction. Calculations are reported of the characteristics of neutron and proton radiation emitted from deuterium shell targets; the results are presented in the form of graphs.
