Investigation of the discharge stability and frequency characteristics of reactive oscillations in helium-neon lasers with small-diameter tubes

Abstract:
A linearized equation, describing the behavior of a discharge in the case of weak perturbations, is derived. An expression for the harmonic stage of reactive oscillations is obtained using the external circuit equation. The stability conditions in a He–Ne laser discharge are analyzed. Equations are obtained for the maximum stable discharge current and for the harmonic stage frequency. The results of this analysis are compared with experiments carried out on OKG-13, OKG-16, and LG-56 cubes.
