Miniature laser and its coupling to a thin-flim optical waveguide

Abstract:
A theoretical analysis is given of possible methods for coupling a miniature semiconductor or solid state laser to a thin-film dielectric waveguide. The results are given of an experimental study of the tunnel coupling of the radiation emitted by a YAG:Nd laser into a film. It is shown that unidirectional propagation of light in a film waveguide can be achieved under optimal coupling conditions.
