Abstract: An investigation was made of the characteristics of a Q-switched laser utilizing a phosphate glass and producing pulses with a repetition frequency up to 5 sec–1. The pulse duration was 15 nsec when the Q factor of the resonator was switched by an optomechanical modulator with a prism rotating at an equivalent angular velocity of 60,000 rpm.
