Formation, by penetrating radiation, of absorbing layers in the optical medium of a neodymium laser

Abstract:
It is shown that coloration of optical media by penetrating radiation can be used to create absorbing layers in an optical laser medium. Special properties of these layers can be used to suppress the processes limiting the output energy and power of a laser.
