Abstract:
It is shown experimentally that stimulated backscattering modulates the amplitude of the radiation transmitted by a nonlinear medium and the modulation period is of the order of twice the transit time of light across the scattering region. The depth of modulation decreases from the beginning to the end of a pulse. The experimental results are in agreement with theoretical estimates.
