Analysis of the influence of the statistical characteristics of the hologram recording process on the quality of reconstructed images

Yu. V. Zavoruev, I. N. Troitskii
Abstract: The assumption of the Poisson statistics of the hologram recording process is used in an analysis of the average value and of the rms deviation of the intensity distribution in the reconstructed images. Mathematical expressions are derived for relating the distortions introduced, on the one hand, by discretization of holograms and quantization of their intensity distributions, and, on the other, by the statistical characteristics of the recording light-sensitive screen.
