Abstract:
Observations and a detailed study were made of the Superluminescence of solutions of two polymethine dyes (used as passive switches) excited by neodymium laser pulses (λ = 1.06 μ) of nanosecond and picosecond duration. The conditions for exciting this Superluminescence were determined. The spectral, temporal, and other characteristics of the Superluminescence were studied. The Superluminescence was used to increase the contrast of the temporal pattern of the output radiation.
