Influence of the Faraday effect on stimulated backward scattering of light
B. Ya. Zel'dovich, N. V. Morachevskiĭ
Abstract:
It is shown that opposite rotation of the directions of polarization of the pump and scattered waves in an external magnetic field may reduce the intensity gain g (cm–1). The greatest change (by a factor of two compared with the initial value of the gain g0) should be observed when the magnetic rotation Ф (rad/cm) exceeds g0/8 in the case of a linearly polarized pump wave.
